Kathy Engel, Psy.D.
Although I am not a native Texan, just as the bumper sticker says, "I got here as soon as I could." I spent my early childhood in the East Coast and late childhood in the Midwest. My family relocated quite a bit, which provided me with opportunities to meet new people and acclimate to different cultures. The downside to frequent moves was the disruption it caused to my friendships. I came to value my family relationships and craved to establish roots somewhere. The Austin area was billed as a great community for families and my parents happened to retire here. My husband and I followed my parents and then were followed by his parents. We have 2 children, who are native Texans, something we never anticipated, but greatly appreciate. My family and I enjoy the outdoors, especially the beautiful parks. When I am not working, I can be found playing with my children, running, and volunteering.
